Glasgow headlines 29 August: City Centre set for redesign
  • 8 months ago
Glasgow City Council’s plan to regenerate main city centre streets is set to go before councillors for approval.

The Golden Z blueprint will see buildings on Sauchiehall, Buchanan and Argyle Streets developed to broaden their use and appeal, with the aim to increase population.

This comes as the number of visitors to these areas has decreased since the pandemic due to an increase in people working from home.

Next, Banksy’s exhibition at the GOMA has come to a close and attracted a record number of visitors during its 10-week run.

180,000 people attended the street artist’s first solo exhibition in 14 years, which gave a behind the scenes look at his work, showing stencils that have never been shown to the public before.

And in other news, you will soon be able to fly directly from Glasgow Airport to Sal in Cape Verde as Tui Airways has introduced a new flight route.

Customers will be able to travel to the Atlantic island from 3 November, following a commitment to Glasgow by the holiday provider.
