Cell Tattoos Track Their Wellness

Johns Hopkins bimolecular engineers have developed complex nano-tattoos that adhere to individual cells and measure function. These flexible nano-tattoos may harbor optical and electronic sensors and are constructed in arrays using gold micro-wiring. The microarrays are attached to a dissolvable hydrogel film with molecular glues. The tattoos are non-toxic and remain on the cells for prolonged intervals. These tattooed gold microcircuits will drive biomonitoring to new heights…..someday soon.
