Students celebrate as India makes history with Chandrayaan-3 moon landing
  • 8 months ago
Students and teachers erupted in celebration as India's Chandrayaan-3 made a historic moon landing on Wednesday, 23 August.

The country’s third moon rocket conducted a soft landing on the lunar south pole.

It is the first lander to touch down on this area of the moon.

Today's feat made India the fourth country in the world to achieve a soft landing on Earth’s satellite.

The moon’s south pole is covered in water-ice in some permanently shadowed areas, making it of significant interest to scientists as it could support human habitation in the future.
