Trump Calls Indictment Fake
Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to appear in court to be formally arraigned on criminal charges for conspiring to overturn the 2020 presidential election. The charges were brought against him by a grand jury as part of special counsel Jack Smith's investigation into efforts to overturn the election and the January 6 Capitol riot. The indictment also mentions six unnamed co-conspirators, who are now believed to be identified. Trump has been ordered to appear in federal court in Washington DC, and the case will be overseen by US district judge Tanya Chutkan, appointed by Barack Obama. Trump has expressed dissatisfaction with the indictment and has called it a "fake" case, demanding that it be moved to the neighboring state of West Virginia, as he believes it is impossible to get a fair trial in the capital.
