WHY SOUTH AFRICA IS WRITTEN AS RSA IN CRICKET MATCHES #euphoriacricket

RSA stands for Republic of South Africa. Most cricket teams have a three-letter acronym that is short for their country's name, such as IND for India, PAK for Pakistan, and AUS for Australia. In some cases, a two-letter acronym is used, such as SL for Sri Lanka and NZ for New Zealand. So, why does South Africa use RSA instead of SA or SAF in cricket matches? India's full name is the Republic of India, Pakistan's is the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and Australia's is the Commonwealth of Australia. These teams don't use their full name, so why does SA use its full name?
Here's all I could find on the internet: SA was banned from playing international cricket in 1970 due to the country's Apartheid Policy, Apartheid was a policy which discriminated against people based on their racial and ethnic background. Negotiations to end Apartheid started in 1990, and SA was reinstated by the ICC as a Test playing nation in 1991. The governing body at that point must have thought that after all the struggles and sacrifices of their people to become an independent and unified state, including a republic in the team's name would be appropriate and do justice. Hence, the acronym RSA must have come into use. This may seem far-fetched, but sport plays a much bigger role in society than we think. Maybe, just maybe, the word 'republic' could have helped people identify with the team better subconsciously. Also, it would have sent a message to the rest of the world that the Rainbow Nation was past its struggles and was ready to look forward.

In recent years, they have stopped using RSA and instead use SA or SAF, which suggests that SA has made a good name for itself both in cricket and also as a free nation and has come a long way from the Apartheid era. This is all I could find on the internet. I might be wrong, but this seems like a reasonable explanation to me. If you guys find more information, please let us know in the comment section.
Thank you for watching, and have a nice day.
