2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Coming to Europe with 201 HP 2.8 Liter Turbo Diesel.

Just after the Toyota Land Cruiser made its triumphant return to the United States , details about the new model were revealed for Europe and select international markets . In some countries, including Australia, it will be sold as the Land Cruiser Prado.

The new Land Cruiser models sold in Europe are very similar to the ones that will be sold in America. With that in mind, the capable off-road vehicle and 4×4 follows in the footsteps of the larger Land Cruiser 300 and is based on Toyota's GA-F platform. Toyota states that a new frame is 50% stiffer than the frame of the previous generation model, which together with the new platform provides better off-road performance and better road handling.

Numerous other features add to the appeal of the new Land Cruiser. For example, it comes with electric power steering, which promises to reduce kickback on rough surfaces while also providing a smoother and more direct feel. This system also allowed Toyota to include Land Tracing Assist in its Safety Sense active safety and driver assistance package.

Toyota has yet to reveal drivetrain details for each market in which the new Land Cruiser will be sold, but said it will debut in Western Europe with a 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine. This engine produces 201 hp and is paired with an eight-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission. While 201 horses may not seem like much for a vehicle of this size, Toyota has confirmed that the new Land Cruiser can tow up to 3,500 kg (7,716 lbs). It also revealed that an electric drivetrain combining the diesel engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system will join the series in early 2025.

Toyota also said that the new Land Cruiser gains a disconnected front anti-roll bar, a first for Toyota, and should further elevate its off-road credentials. Various upgrades have also been made to the Multi-Terrain Monitor and Multi-Terrain Select systems.

Visually, two different versions of the Land Cruiser will be sold with different front fascias. As in the US, one will have simpler round headlights, while the other will have better quality headlights that run horizontally. However, unlike in the US, the model with round LED headlights will not be an entry-level model and will instead be sold only as a 'First Edition' variant. Only 3,000 examples of the Land Cruiser First Edition will be produced and pre-sales will begin in October.

European and international prices have not yet been confirmed.
