Durga idols from Kolkata's Kumartuli ready to go abroad
  • 9 months ago
With just a few months left for Durga Puja, idols of the Goddess Durga are all set to go abroad from Kumartuli, the clay modellers' colony in north Kolkata.
The idols sent to foreign countries are generally made of fibreglass. In December 2021, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) inscribed "Durga Puja in Kolkata" on the "Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity".
