Migrant Workers' Broken Taiwan Dreams | Connected with Divya Gopalan
  • 9 months ago
Three percent of Taiwan’s population is made up of migrant workers from Southeast Asia who came in search of job opportunities unavailable at home. But why did they choose to come to Taiwan? And, more importantly, why is Taiwan failing to live up to their expectations as being a promised land?

In this episode of #CONNECTED, we bring to you the first part of our discussion on migrant workers’ rights in Taiwan, with the help of Isabelle Cockel, a senior lecturer at the University of Portsmouth, and Lennon Wong, the director of SPA-Service Center and Shelter for Migrant Workers in Zhongli, Taoyuan.
