Trump Aides Obstruction Charges
In a new indictment related to former President Donald Trump's retention of classified documents after leaving the White House, special counsel Jack Smith alleged that Trump and his aides attempted to have surveillance footage from his Mar-a-Lago club deleted to prevent it from being turned over to a grand jury. Carlos de Oliveira, a maintenance worker at Trump's South Florida resort, was charged as the third defendant. The indictment claims that Trump showed a classified national-security document to visitors at his golf club in New Jersey and charged him, Nauta, and de Oliveira with obstruction, alleging they attempted to alter, destroy, or conceal evidence and pressured another employee to delete the surveillance footage.
