This time, ISRO aims to launch India’s first solar mission ‘Aditya-L1’ to study Sun. Aditya-L1 mission will be launched by PSLV-XL rocket from Sathish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota. While briefing on Aditya-L1 Mission, ISRO Chief said that ISRO is aiming for August end as the target for its launch. Initially, spacecraft will be placed in a low earth orbit; subsequently, using on-board propulsion system, spacecraft will be put in Lagrange point L1. The Lagrange point L1 of the Sun-Earth system is about 1.5 million km from the Earth. The spacecraft will carry seven payloads to observe the photosphere, chromosphere and the outermost layers of the Sun. ISRO’s Scientist Dr V Narayanan also shared the details of the Aditya-L1 mission. The total travel time from launch to L1 would take about four months for Aditya-L1.
