Moment Black mother arrested in front of crying son in Met police bus fare mix up

Police officers arrested a Black mother in London in front of her crying son after they thought she hadn’t paid for a bus ticket.

Footage of the July 21 incident shows the woman being restrained by Metropolitan Police officers in Croydon, while her young son was moved away by a female officer.

In a statement Met Police said officers had arrested the woman because she was asked to confirm with a revenue inspector that she had paid her bus fare, but did not agree.

Officers handcuffed and arrested her on suspicion of fare evasion where the force claim she then became abusive.

It later emerged the woman had paid and was “de-arrested”.
