Cute footage shows twin baby penguins named Ant and Dec hatching at the National Sea Life centre in Birmingham.

The chicks were born on June 2 weighing just 96g and 101g respectively.

Video shows their proud mum Rosie – named by TV’s Lorraine Kelly after her daughter – gently washing her new offspring.

Lorraine was asked to name her "penguin grand-chicks" on her TV show.

Revealing their names, she said: “I’ve been asked to come up with a name, so I can exclusively reveal that they have to be called Ant and Dec.

“Because Ant and Dec are really, really cute and gorgeous and lovely, and so are those penguin chicks.

“So welcome to the world Ant and Dec and I’ll come and see you soon.”

The chicks are Rosie’s first babies after she mated with fellow Gentoo penguin
Sniffler.

The twins now weigh 3kg each and join the sea life centre’s four new chicks who were born this year.
