At least 142 people have been killed and more than 60,000 have been displaced in clashes between the mostly Christian Kuki tribals and the largely Hindu Meiteis since May 3. The faultlines between different tribes in the state have been laid bare….and most importantly, a region famous for concinnity between various tribal groups has been burning. The region has become a powder keg …and just a spark is enough to cause bloodshed. Lot of blood has already been spilled in ethnic clashes and people are now simply fed up of all these things. They want the violence to abate…and the killings to stop.
