NBC reports that thousands of Hollywood
actors could go on strike as early as July 13. .
The news comes after the actors' labor guild and
a trade group representing major film and television
studios failed to make a deal on a new contract.
On July 13, the Screen Actors Guild-American
Federation of Television and Radio Artists
(SAG-AFTRA) will hold a vote on striking. .
SAG-AFTRA’s Television/Theatrical/
Streaming contracts have expired
without a successor agreement, SAG-AFTRA statement, via NBC.
NBC reports that the guild is looking to secure
a contract with higher base compensation and
safeguards regarding the use of artificial intelligence. .
According to SAG, despite four weeks of negotiation,
the trade association representing Disney
and Netflix, among other major studios, , “remains unwilling to offer a fair deal on the key
issues that are essential to SAG-AFTRA members.”.

both film and television productions.
Two months after the Writers Guild of America went
on strike, many television productions have been halted
and numerous high-profile films have been delayed.

to exacerbate the problems facing the industry,
with many other productions forced to go dark.
