UN council split over Sweden's Koran burning debate

Pakistan and other countries from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) request an immediate discussion at the United Nations' highest human rights body on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, following the burning of Koran outside the main mosque in Stockholm, Sweden. However, some Western nations hesitated on the drafted resolution due to concerns of excessive speech restrictions.
