The Fondation Beyeler in Riehen (Basel, Switzerland) is the first Swiss museum to dedicate a comprehensive solo exhibition to the internationally renowned artist Doris Salcedo (*1958 in Bogotá, Colombia). The show Doris Salcedo at Fondation Beyeler was realized in close collaboration with her and her studio and runs until 17 September 2023. The approximately 100 works on display from eight central work series include key works from museums and private collections and provide a comprehensive insight into the work of Doris Salcedo.

Among the artworks on display is the large-scale installation Palimpsest, 2013–2017, in which Doris Salcedo focuses on the refugees and migrants who over the past 20 years have drowned attempting the dangerous crossing of the Mediterranean or the Atlantic in search of a better life in Europe. She spent five years researching the names of the victims that appear and fade on the sand-colored slabs covering a floor area of around 400 square meters.
