Harare: Scotland beat two-time ODI World Cup winners West Indies by 7 wickets to knock them out of the running for the 2023 World Cup. In the Super Six stage of the qualifying round played in Harare, Scotland chased down the target of 185 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 43.3 overs. Wicket keeper batsman Matthew Cross played an unbeaten innings of 74 runs for Scotland. Brendan McMullen 69, George Munsey 18 while Christopher McBride failed to open the account. Captain Richie Barrington returned to the pavilion not out after scoring 13 runs. Aqeel Hussain, Romario Shepherd and Jason Holder took 1.1 wickets for West Indies. Earlier, West Indies were bowled out for 181 in the 44th over, batting first on Scotland's invitation. Jason Holder 45, Romario Shepherd 36, Brandon King 22, Nicklas Pooran 21, captain Shai Hope 13, Kevin Sinclair 10, Alzari Joseph 6, Johnson Charles and Shamar Brooks were out for 0.0 runs. Aqeel Hussain was not out by scoring 6 runs. On behalf of Scotland, Brendan McMullan took 3 wickets, Chris Soule, Matt Watt, Chris Greaves 2, 2 and Sufyan Sharif took 1 wicket. It should be noted that West Indies have won the World Cup in 1975 and 1979.
