GE Aerospace to Make Fighter Jet Engines for Indian Air Force

General Electric's aerospace unit has signed an agreement with India's state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics to produce fighter jet engines for the Indian Air Force. The deal includes the possibility of joint production of GE Aerospace's F414 engines in India, which will be used to power Tejas fighter jets. The move comes as the US looks to deepen military and technology ties with India as a counterweight to China's regional influence. GE has been working with Hindustan Aeronautics since 1986 to support the development of India's light combat aircraft with F404 engines.
