Tara Singh (Sunny Deol), a happy-go-lucky truck driver, saves Sakina (Ameesha Patel) from the rage of fellow Sikhs. The two fall in love and marry, but things take an unexpected turn when after a few years, Sakina discovers that the rest of her aristocratic family is still alive and lives in Pakistan, although they might not be very supportive of her marriage.
