George Soros Chooses Successor
Philanthropist billionaire George Soros is handing over his $25 billion empire to his son Alex. In 2017, Soros transferred $18 billion to his Open Society Foundations, where Alex was appointed chair. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Alex expressed his interest in politics and hinted at the foundation's involvement in the upcoming U.S. elections. The younger Soros voiced concerns about the potential return of former U.S. President Donald Trump and emphasized the need to engage in political financing. George Soros has been a significant donor to the Democratic Party, contributing around $140 million to advocacy organizations and ballot initiatives in 2021. The decision to hand over control to Alex was a surprise, as Soros had previously considered his eldest son, Jonathan Soros, the successor.
