Albay officials brace for possible raising Mayon alert status | New Day

Local authorities now preparing for the possible raising of the volcano's alert level status to four.

That's amid potential lahar flow which could affect three towns.

Security officials have beefed up measures to prevent evacuees from returning to the six-kilometer permanent danger zone.

As of Sunday afternoon more than 12,600 individuals or 88% of the target have a been evacuated.
