389 HP V6 Introduced with Overtrail Terrain Trim, New Lexus GX 2024
The new SUV will go on sale in the US in early 2024.

The 2024 Lexus GX brings the SUV to its third generation to replace the current iteration, which has had a release for the 2010 model year. The new model has a much more sculpted, rugged-looking appearance than the previous model. There is also more modern technology. The new SUV will go on sale in early 2024 and no pricing is available at this time.

The 2024 GX runs on the frame-on-frame GA-F platform, again below the LX 600. It has a double wishbone front suspension and a multi-link setup at the rear. The new model adopts electronic power steering, which Lexus claims offers greater steering feel on and off the road. Adaptive Variable Suspension with active dampers is an option.

At launch, the only drivetrain available is the GX 550, which comes with a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V6 that produces 349 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. It is connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The standard drivetrain of the GX includes full-time all-wheel drive and a lockable Torsen limited-slip center differential. The electronically controlled transfer case switches between 4WD-High and 4WD-Low faster than its predecessor. Overtrail classes also have a locking rear differential.

The 2024 GX will be available in six trim levels: Premium, Premium+, Luxury, Luxury+, Overtrail and Overtrail+. The last two are not terrain-focused variants.

Buyers will be able to get the GX in 11 exterior colors: Eminent White Pearl, Nebula Gray Pearl, Atomic Silver, Incognito, Caviar, Nori Green Pearl and Nightfall Mica. The Overtrail and Overtrail+ classes will come in two-tone combinations with a black roof and body in Atomic Silver, Incognito, Nori Green Pearl or Earth.

It comes with Overtrail trims, black accents on the fenders, and an aluminum skid plate. These models ride on 18-inch wheels with 33-inch tires. These trim levels are available with creep control, downhill assist control and a 3D multi-terrain monitor. The Electronic-Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System provides additional wheel articulation for better off-road performance. Overtrail+ has special seats with a massage function and an electric extender pillow.

The exterior has a more robust design than any previous GX, while designers prioritize luxury in the cabin. There is now a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, while the current model has analogue gauges with a small display in the middle. The infotainment screen is currently increasing from 10.3 inches to 14.0 inches. The software supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are dials to control the temperature and volume. The switches operating the transfer case and differentials are behind the gear lever in the center console. Head-up display is an option.
