Trump Town Hall Sinks CNN CEO
Chris Licht has stepped down as the chief executive of CNN after just over a year in the role, amid various challenges including low ratings, internal rebellion, and controversial programming decisions. His departure follows a contentious town hall event featuring Donald Trump and a damaging 15,000-word profile in The Atlantic, which reportedly displeased executives at parent company Warner Bros. Discovery. The news comes shortly after David Leavy, a key ally of Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, was appointed as CNN’s new chief operating officer. Before joining CNN, Licht gained experience as the executive producer of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” and later “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on CBS.
