Wrestlers Protest: Government Invites Sakshee Malikkh, Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia & Others For Talks

The Central government has invited the protesting wrestlers for talks to discuss their issues, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said on June 7. This comes after the wrestlers met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on June 3. Sports Minister Anurag Thakur tweeted, “Government is willing to have a discussion.” India’s wrestling champions are protesting against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. He has been accused of sexually exploiting women wrestlers. Sakshee Malikkh, Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia were protesting against Singh at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar until they were asked to vacate the site.
