Dimon Pushes for US-China Dialogue
JPMorgan Chase & Co CEO Jamie Dimon emphasized the need for "real engagement" between the United States and China to address their complex security and trade issues. At the JPMorgan Global China Summit in Shanghai, Dimon highlighted that shouting across the Pacific will not lead to solutions. This visit to China is Dimon's first since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and his controversial comment in 2021 about JPMorgan outlasting China's Communist Party. Dimon believes the disputes between the two countries are resolvable and prefers East-West "derisking" rather than decoupling. He supported the US officials' approach to derisking and emphasized the importance of not hurting China or its people. JPMorgan has been expanding its presence in China, but the process has been slower than anticipated.
