The Education Minister recently revealed in Dewan Rakyat that almost half of the SPM students from the 2021 session did not further their studies. This is an increase from 35% of the 2020 cohort. What do we understand about why young people don't want to, or are not able to, pursue higher education? On this episode of Consider This, Melisa Idris speaks to Ida Thien, CEO of the Tunku Abdul Rahman Foundation and co-Founder of the NGO, Closing The Gap Malaysia, which helps underprivileged students continue on to university, by providing mentoring programmes & support.
