Lautaro Martinez Goal vs Milan | Lautaro Crazy Celebration with Fans
  • 11 months ago
Lautaro Martinez scored for Inter Milan against AC Milan to send them to the UEFA Champions League final for the first time since 2010. The goal gave the Nerrazzurri a near-unassailable three-goal lead with less than twenty minutes to play.

The Argentine’s tenth Champions League goal for Inter is as many as treble-winner Samuel Eto’o. It was also his eighth against AC Milan, the third-most for Inter behind Istvan Nyers (11) and Giuseppe Meazza (12).

Lautaro received the ball in the Milan penalty area and attempted to create space for himself. He eventually cut the ball back for Romelu Lukaku in a crowded area. The Belgian striker kept his composure and fed a return ball back to his partner, who beat goalkeeper Mike Maignan for power at his near post. The Frenchman would have been disappointed to concede in such fashion, but the Inter fans didn’t care as the goal sparked wild celebrations.

Milan came into this game looking to overturn a two-goal deficit after a disappointing 2-0 defeat in the first leg. Fans would have been optimistic, given the return of talisman Rafael Leao. However, the Portuguese failed to make an impact. Meanwhile, Lautaro Martinez scored his 25th goal of the season to send Inter to the final. It is also the first time he has scored more than 25 goals in back-to-back seasons. The striker scored 25 in 49 last season and has achieved the same amount in three more games, with four more to play.

Today’s effort was only Lautaro Martinez’s third Champions League goal. He previously scored in a Group C encounter versus Barcelona at the San Siro and in the quarter-final second leg against Benfica. The Argentine has also provided three assists, with two in the group stages and one versus Benfica in a chaotic game.

He will be looking to contribute further as Inter seeks to snatch second place from Juventus in Serie A, as well as win the Champions League final against either Real Madrid or Manchester City.
