Tesla ($TSLA@US) is "serious" about its plans to establish a manufacturing base in India, according to a Reuters interview with India's deputy minister for technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar. Chandrasekhar confirmed that Tesla executives held talks with Indian officials on various topics, including incentives for car and battery manufacturing. The discussions involved not only vehicle production but also energy, manufacturing technology, and potentially manufacturing EV batteries. The EV giant is considering setting up a factory in India to build electric vehicles and potentially manufacture EV batteries. Currently, Tesla has manufacturing plants in Shanghai, China, and Brandenburg, Germany, and its facilities in the United States.
