An 18-year-old man from Wisconsin, Joseph Garrison, is facing criminal charges for his alleged involvement in a scheme to hack user accounts on the sports betting site DraftKings. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan stated that Garrison, along with others, is accused of stealing approximately $600,000 from around 1,600 victim accounts during the November 2022 attack. During their investigation of the devices, investigators discovered credential stuffing programs, instructional photos on how to use stolen user credentials to steal money from victim accounts, as well as messages exchanged between Garrison and his co-conspirators. In one message cited in the court filing, Garrison wrote, "Fraud is fun."
