Gert and Gijs - Part 1 - Sub (Read description for backstory)

Welcome to part 1! Gert and Gijs' story starts after Gert is just released from prison and Gijs gets a new job at the local coffee pub at Vilvoorde. A lot has happened already (this is season 4) so here a recap of what happened with Gert so far:
Gert is the son of Mark Albrechts and Dorine Albrechts and the brother of Jonas Albrechts. Their parents own a big marketing company called ‘Massa’. From an early age he has a better relationship with his mother than with his father. When his father Mark is aggressive towards his mother Dorine, he hits his head with the 'Hotspot' award. Mark is killed instantly. Katja is a witness to Mark’s murder (even filmed it), which she will later use to blackmail both Gert and Dorine to get promotion at Massa among some other things.
To cover up the murder, Gert fakes a complete car accident. His mother is in on all of it. However, he has a hard time living with the idea of having killed someone and starts spiralling. He makes bad decision after bad decision (mostly drinking and lashing out at people) until his mother can’t take it anymore and tells Jonas what really happened to his father. Gert feels betrayed and goes into hiding from the police, leaving Katja behind who gets arrested as an accomplice of the murder.
After a while he visits his mother again (because he needs some money) but they get into an argument, causing his mother to slip, hit her head and die. Lisa witnesses this and Gert, still in shock, kidnaps Lisa to keep her from telling the world what happened. He keeps Lisa locked away for a long time, but they talk a lot about his childhood, about his (trust) issues and she empathises with him and eventually even decides to stay with him voluntarily. Lisa encourages Gert to come clean about everything that has happened, and he does. Lisa pleads that Dorine’s death was an accident and Gert gets a reduced sentence for his father’s murder because he tips the police about the whereabouts of some highly wanted people (Igor and friends, who he met while he was spiralling). Het gets sentenced for manslaughter instead of murder. He also swears Katja had nothing to do with it, saving her from a potential sentence. In total I think he went to prison for about 6 months. Initially Jonas didn't want anything to do with Gert anymore, but after he found some of Gert's old childhood diaries and videos he realised how hard things must have been for him growing up, and Gert and Jonas eventually reconcile. Part 1 starts with the release of Gert from prison. Jonas was in a car accident two months prior and is rehabilitating. This is the first time we meet Gijs.
