Tencent Surges in Q1 with Gaming Boost

Chinese technology giant Tencent reported a strong rebound in its first-quarter results, with an 11% increase in revenue, marking its fastest growth in over a year. The company experienced a surge in payment volumes, advertising sales, and gaming, benefiting from the recovery of domestic consumption in China as Covid-19 restrictions eased. The China-based tech giant's value-added services, particularly international gaming, accounted for 57% of its total sales. Tencent's gaming business saw growth in domestic game sales, with its popular game Honor of Kings achieving record-high gross receipts. The company's online ad revenue increased by 17% in the first quarter, driven by advertising on video accounts, mini programs, and mobile ads.
