Yorkshire was responsible for several influential musical moments in the career of great British composer Ralph Vaughan Williams whose work includes the melody for hymn favourite, To Be a Pilgrim.
Linden Lea, performed here by acapella folk group Broomdasher, as featured on their new album Ingrave Epiphany, was his first published piece in 1901 - composed at the vicarage in Hooton Roberts, near Rotherham. Buy the album here https://www.broomdasher.com/media/shop/index.html
From Pub to Pulpit, a Broomdasher touring concert celebrating what would have been Williams 150th birthday and his Yorkshire links, will be performed at Huddersfield Town Hall, on Thursday, June 8, followed next day with children's workshops and songs at Leeds Cathedral, on Friday, June 9.
