Haydar Mohamed once grew wheat and barley in a remote village in southern Iraq until drought forced him to leave the countryside in search of work. "We were forced to leave as there is only work in the cities," deplores Mohamed who now supports his family by working on construction sites in the holy Shiite city of Karbala.
