Faced with the increasingly militaristic rhetoric and actions of China, Taiwan has opened training for its army reservists to women for the first time. Taipei announced in January that it would allow more than 200 women to volunteer for the training, with military analysts urging the island nation to bolster its forces and prepare the civilian population for a potential invasion.
