Frustrated Thomas Tuchel Broke a Slalom Pole with his Knee during Bayern Munich Training Session

Thomas Tuchel's anger got the better of him as he snapped a slalom pole during Bayern Munich 's latest training session.
The start of Tuchel's reign at the Allianz Arena has so far been nothing short of disastrous, with the German winning just one game since replacing Julian Nagelsmann. Under his management, Bayern have been knocked out of both the Champions League and the DFB-Pokal.
The latest low point came on Saturday when Bayern suffered a dreadful 3-1 defeat away to Tuchel's former club Mainz. The loss has allowed Borussia Dortmund to leapfrog them in the Bundesliga table and Tuchel's frustrations with his team appear to be growing.
According to BILD, those frustrations burst into the open at a recent training session. It is said that Tuchel was left unhappy with the final game on Bayern's diamond small field, which had the corners cut off.
He was forced to correct offensive moves several times, while the players also made their unhappiness clear, with Josip Stanisic complaining about an offside decision, Thomas Muller grumbling loudly and Daley Blind being scolded by assistant coach Zsolt Low.
After that, Tuchel had a discussion with Low and fellow assistant coach Arno Michels before he suddenly grabbed the yellow pole that Low was leaning on. Tuchel then snapped the pole twice over his knee, breaking it, with Michels carrying it away.
Chief executive Oliver Kahn had been watching training from the mini grandstand on the sidelines, before heading to his office after Tuchel snapped the pole. Adding to the sense of crisis was the lacklustre performance of Leroy Sane.
The 27-year-old, signed from Manchester City in 2020, appeared to be disinterested in the session. He skipped the big hurdles while warming up, stood apart from the team while Tuchel was delivering instructions to the group and sat on a ball between exercises.
Clearly, this is not how Tuchel had expected his reign at Bayern to go, with club chiefs having hoped he would be able to lead them to a Treble. The Bayern boss has made his frustrations with his side clear, particularly after the defeat to Mainz.
"There was no reason to lose the game - a game we had under control. We lacked the purpose and composure to get a second goal. We conceded the equaliser out of nothing and didn't have the energy to show a reaction" he said.
"It was downhill from there as we conceded three goals in 12 minutes. We couldn't get ourselves going again. When things go wrong, we find it incredibly difficult as a team to get a grip back on the game and show the spirit to turn things around and fight.
"We weren't determined or effective enough to get the job done. We're having a hard time winning games right now. We lack the energy."
