UNICEF: 67M children missed out on routine vaccination bet. 2019 and 2021 | New Day

  • last year
Health authorities are working double time to educate the public about the importance of vaccination to protect children from vaccine-preventable diseases.

Recent data from UNICEF show, 67 million children around the world missed out entirely or partially on routine immunization between 2019 and 2021. Forty-eight million of them did not receive a single routine vaccine also known as "Zero Dose."

The Philippines has over one million "Zero Dose" children, making us the second highest in East Asia and fifth highest globally. How are local health authorities addressing this?

Joining us this World Immunization Week is Doctor Carla Ante-Orozco. She's the immunization specialist of UNICEF Philippines.
