2022 Lexus RX - Crash & Safety Tests
  • last year
Drivers are on the safe side with the Lexus RX: In the crash test of the independent testing organization Euro NCAP, the premium SUV was awarded five out of five stars. The latest generation of Lexus Safety System +, which comes as standard, is partly responsible for the top rating, which, together with other driver assistants, provides support in everyday life and helps to identify dangers and avoid accidents.

The numerous assistance systems complement the improved GA-K platform in the fifth model generation, which offers excellent body rigidity and a low center of gravity. The Lexus RX achieves top results in all four test categories: The protection of adult occupants is rated at 90 percent, the safety of children at 87 percent. When it comes to protecting endangered road users, the RX achieves 89 percent and an outstanding 91 percent for the assistance systems.

Lexus has made several improvements for this: The Pre-Crash Safety System (PCS) now uses a combination of radar and camera. Thanks to the enlarged working area and a shorter reaction time, even more dangers can now be detected earlier. The intersection assistant, for example, notices oncoming traffic and crossing pedestrians when turning and minimizes the risk of possible collisions. The emergency steering assistant helps with evasive maneuvers with targeted steering and braking assistance. The PCS also registers a sudden, unintentional actuation of the accelerator pedal at low speeds - and can thus prevent potentially dangerous acceleration.
