00:00 Want to know how to create these five beautiful designs using a toothpick and with the slight
00:05 help of a q-tip?
00:06 Keep on watching and I'll show you.
00:08 Hello beautiful people!
00:09 About a year ago I posted my very first toothpick nail art tutorial and you guys loved it so
00:14 much.
00:15 I still get a lot of comments asking for more toothpick designs.
00:18 And how could I say no to you adorable little sunshines.
00:21 So here's another episode of the toothpick nails.
00:24 We are making Minnie Mouse, Sugar Skull, kittens, sheep and a high pole.
00:37 So let's get started!
00:42 To keep your nails healthy and beautiful always apply a base coat first.
00:51 First design we are making is this adorable high pole.
00:55 Start off with any background color of your choice.
00:57 I am applying a layer of white polish for the base.
01:00 Once it dries I am going over it with a neon yellow.
01:03 I usually do this trick with neon colors because they just pop so much more on top of white.
01:08 To outline high pole's shape choose a light blue polish and make a circle on the bottom
01:12 half of the nail using the polish brush.
01:15 Take a darker shade of blue and draw an oval shape across the tip of the nail like so.
01:20 Time to call our friend a toothpick!
01:22 For small dots you can use the tip of the toothpick but for larger ones you need to
01:28 trim the pointy end away.
01:30 If your toothpick has this triangular shape like mine, cut it across first.
01:35 Then snip away this corner and you're left with a great tool for larger dots.
01:39 Dip it in the light blue polish and make little dots on the left and on the right side of
01:43 the oval shape for the nose.
01:46 We also need to give some ears to our little buddy.
01:48 To make the dot larger you can dip the toothpick into polish, then let it dry, dip it again,
01:54 let it dry and so on until the blob of polish is big enough.
01:58 Next take a white polish and make two larger dots for the eyes and two little black dots
02:02 inside.
02:03 On the tip of the nail make two white dots for his teeth.
02:08 If you like you can also add two little dark blue dots on the ears to give them more depth.
02:12 To finish the design apply a layer of fast drying top coat and you're all done with
02:17 this cute hypo.
02:18 He seems like a baby hypo to me, don't you think?
02:21 Anyway, I just love love love this design.
02:24 Next we are making this scary skull design.
02:27 Just kidding.
02:28 Let's rather make a nice and happy sugar skull.
02:32 Again I applied white for the base and then a fluorescent yellow on top.
02:36 In the bottom left and right corner of the nail make little triangle shapes using black
02:40 nail polish brush.
02:42 This will give you that perfect skull shape.
02:44 For the eyes I am using a q-tip dipped into pink polish.
02:48 Such perfect big dots would be hard to achieve with a toothpick but a q-tip does the job
02:52 perfectly.
02:53 Make a second dot and we have the eyes.
02:56 For the nose I am making four black dots, you can just make three in a form of triangle.
03:01 That's the usual but my skull is a bit freaky so I just went with four.
03:05 Let's give the skull a big smile by first outlining the shape and then connecting the
03:09 dots.
03:10 We'll come back to the smile later when the polish dries, in the meantime we can finish
03:14 the eyes.
03:16 Make tiny black dots all around the edges of the eyes, leaving a bit space between each
03:20 dot.
03:23 Now dip the toothpick in silver polish and make dots in these empty places.
03:29 Since this is a sugar skull, feel free to decorate it however you wish.
03:33 I am making a little flower using silver and green.
03:37 To finish off the smile make two rows of small white dots on top of the black patch.
03:42 Just look at these beautiful shiny white teeth, seems like our skull did good with brushing
03:46 them.
03:47 Seal your design by applying a layer of the fast drying top coat and you are all ready
03:51 to rock this sweet sugar skull.
03:54 It is perfect for the upcoming Halloween but it makes a great accent to your mani on any
03:58 ordinary day as well.
04:01 Let's continue with this lovely kitten's design.
04:03 I chose a medium blue shade for the background.
04:06 Next make a stripe across the tip of the nail using the nail polish brush, I chose a pink
04:11 to make the design more girly.
04:13 Time to bring on the kittens.
04:15 Dip the q-tip into white polish and make a dot which represents cat's body.
04:20 Add another dot right on top of it for cat's head.
04:24 Finally make a thin stripe for the tail and two little dots for the ears.
04:28 Ta da!
04:30 First kitten done!
04:31 Make another cat, this time using black nail polish.
04:34 When drawing a tail, it's better to just slightly touch the nail with the tip of the toothpick
04:38 and then carefully drag it, this way you'll get a nice thin line.
04:43 Since my kittens are in love, I also draw a heart on top by making two dots and extending
04:47 them downwards.
04:50 Apply a layer of the fast drying top coat to bring your design together.
04:54 I think this one is just too adorable!
04:58 Minnie Mouse design anyone?
04:59 This design is so girly, pretty and very easy to make.
05:03 Start with any background color of your choice.
05:06 I went for a very light baby blue shape.
05:09 Make a red stripe across the tip of the nail using your polish brush.
05:14 Dip the toothpick into white polish and make a few dots on top of the red.
05:18 I had space for five dots on my pinky.
05:21 This design already looks beautiful, but to make it even more Minnie appropriate, draw
05:25 a mouse shape on the side of your nail.
05:28 For the large dot I cut the toothpick almost in the middle, because that is where toothpick
05:32 is the widest.
05:33 For the ears, snip away only the tip of the toothpick.
05:36 For a bit more classic Minnie Mouse French manicure, you can use a nude polish for the
05:40 base.
05:41 Here I decided to draw a bunch of mouse heads only on my ring finger as an accent.
05:47 That's how you can always make countless variations from one design idea.
05:51 Just switch up the colors and voila, you have a brand new and unique nail art every time.
05:56 Last but not least, let's create this very easy but lovely sheep design.
06:01 Start by applying two layers of green polish for the grass, which is sheep's favorite
06:05 dish.
06:06 To draw the sheep, simply dip the toothpick into white polish and make several dots close
06:10 together as if you were making a fluffy cloud.
06:13 I am gonna draw three of them, so three clouds for me.
06:23 To give your sheep a head, make four dots forming a triangular shape like so.
06:38 Then add a pair of eyes to each sheep using a white polish.
06:42 While waiting for this to dry, let's draw some legs to our fluffy friends.
06:45 With the tip of the toothpick make four short lines for each sheep by barely touching the
06:50 nail.
06:51 Lastly, make a teeny black dot on top of each white eye for a more realistic look.
06:59 If you want you can also draw some flowers on empty spaces like me.
07:02 I went for three of them, two pink and one blue flower.
07:06 One flower for each sheep.
07:08 How cute does this one look?
07:10 I love all the animals, but sheep are definitely one of my favorites.
07:14 The baby lamb, oh my god, don't even get me started, I just love them too much.
07:19 In the end apply a layer of the fast drying top coat to give this cute design some shine
07:23 and protection.
07:26 And that's it for today's nail art tutorial.
07:28 Give the video a thumbs up if you want me to film another episode of the toothpick nail
07:32 art.
