Man United legends fear the worst after Lisandro Martinez goes down injured with no one around him and has to be carried off by Argentina team-mates, before leaving Old Trafford on crutches

Paul Scholes has insisted Lisandro Martinez would be a 'huge miss' for Manchester United if he is out for a significant period after suffering a serious-looking injury.

His World Cup-winning Argentina teammates, Gonzalo Montiel and Marcos Acuna, of Sevilla, helped lift him off the field in a sporting gesture that saw warm applause from the Old Trafford crowd.

And on BT Sport, Scholes, and Owen Hargreaves had their say on the unfortunate incident.

Iconic former midfielder Scholes said: 'When there is no one around him and you feel a pain like that, the ankle or heel goes, you have to suspect it is an Achilles.

However, after the match, boss Erik ten Hag revealed it was not an Achilles injury, saying: 'It was not the Achilles. I don't know what area. I can't give the diagnosis.'
