Government suspends WTO appeal over barley tariffs
  • last year
Trade tensions between Australia and China are expected to ease after the Federal Government brokered a temporary peace deal in a dispute over barley exports. China crippled Australia’s 1-point-5-million-dollar barley trade in 2020 by introducing an 80 per cent tariff. The former coalition government took the matter to the world trade organisation, but the Labor government has suspended that appeal while China reviews the situation.
