Since Marvel Studios has Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 lined up before the Captain Marvel sequel hits theaters later this year, the marketing campaign for the film hasn't started. Marvel Studios has revealed very little about the film thus far, but The Marvels' official synopsis teases how Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Monica Rambeau all come together in the film.

Per Kevin Feige, The Marvels has some elements similar to 2012's The Avengers. Like Phase 1's culminating movie, DaCosta's MCU project will assemble a brand new team in the universe. But, just like the Avengers, it's safe to say that they, too, will inevitably butt heads with each other, especially considering the strained relationship between Monica and Carol. It's uncertain if Larson will appear as Captain Marvel before The Marvels come out. The character could potentially show up in Secret Invasion, considering the projects' narrative ties, but there has been no concrete indication that this will be the case. One thing is for sure, however, her much-awaited MCU re-emergence will happen this year.
