Kookaburra Eating a Venomous Baby Brown Snake

: "I was at a campground in Seal Rocks on the East Coast of Australia NSW on the 12th March 2023.
I walking toward the beach from my campground when I nearly tripped over a kookaburra on the ground. On closer inspection I saw that it had caught and was eating a baby brown snake. There are 4 videos in total of the event and in the final video the kookaburra swallows the snake completely.

Brown snakes are the second most venomous snake in the world. The kookaburra is not immune to the venom and, if the snake had bitten the kookaburra, the bird would have died soon after. The bird has to catch and hurt the snake so that its unable to bite and use its venom. When the kookaburra eats the snake, its stomach acid breaks down the venom so that it wont be killed and can safely eat this meal.

I am a wildlife rescuer with experience with venomous snake handling and care. This snake is confirmed to be a juvenile brown snake from wildlife and snake experts."
