On Saturday, Cristiano Ronaldo showed his class once again by scoring a rare free kick to inspire Al-Nassr to a vital 2-1 victory over Abha in the Saudi Pro League. The win was crucial as Al-Nassr was trying to keep up with the league leaders, Al-Ittihad, who had beaten Ronaldo's team 1-0 in the previous week's fixture.

Al-Ittihad had already thrashed Al-Fateh 5-1 earlier in the day, leaving Al-Nassr one point behind and facing the prospect of falling four points behind their rivals. However, Ronaldo stepped up to the challenge and scored a spectacular free kick from 30 yards out to level the game. Anderson Talisca then converted a penalty four minutes from time to complete the comeback.

Ronaldo has always been fearless in taking set pieces, and his iconic stance has led to numerous goals earlier in his career. However, the Portuguese superstar has struggled with free kicks in recent years, with his last successful attempt coming for Juventus on July 4, 2020. He had failed to score from a free kick during his second spell with Manchester United.

Since joining Al-Nassr, Ronaldo has now scored nine goals in eight league games, including the vital free kick against Abha. With nine games remaining, Al-Nassr remains one point behind Al-Ittihad, who are managed by former Tottenham and Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo. Ronaldo's contribution will be crucial in Al-Nassr's quest for the league title.
