Held Steady Amidst inflation risk

Bank Negara Malaysia has maintained the overnight policy rate (OPR) at 2.75% following its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) ON 9 March 2023. This is the second consecutive time BNM had maintained its benchmark interest rate after raising it by 100 basis points in 2022 in a bid to tame rising inflation and in response to the US Federal Reserve’s aggressive rate hikes. The central bank says the current OPR remains accommodative and supportive of economic growth.
