Stranded driver rescued by helicopter during California floods
  • last year
A driver stranded in an overflooded river was rescued by a California Highway Patrol helicopter crew after his car was swept away.

The CHP shared footage of the dramatic incident on social media and said the rising Salinas River in King City washed away a vehicle, but that the driver was able to escape and get to an island.

Air crews were able to locate the man and lower the rescuer down before both were pulled back up to the helicopter.

The man was shaken but uninjured after being rescued, the CHP reported.
