US, Philippine soldiers kick off joint army exercises

Around 3,000 soldiers from the US and Philippine armies kick off annual joint exercises in the Southeast Asian country. The first phase of Salaknib, which means "shield" in a local language, will be held on the main island of Luzon from March 13 to April 4 and will include scenarios involving the defense of the Philippines territory from potential "foreign aggressors."
