Michelle Yeoh’s mother cried for joy for her “little princess” and Malaysian supporters erupted in cheers at a special viewing of the Oscars on Monday when she was crowned best actress.

Janet Yeoh, 84, wiped away tears when her daughter became the first Asian to win the best actress Oscar for her performance in “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” that swept a string of awards including the best picture, best supporting actor and actress. Her Oscar win came after victories at the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild.
