Krabi Getaway : A Blissful Retreat (Day 1)
Day 1 of my trip to Krabi with my wife and kids. Our plane ride was quite smooth. Then we took a taxi from Krabi airport to our hotel, Apple A Day, in Aonang, cost 600 baht. Quite affordable. Timing was just nice, we made it just in time for our check in, not too late, not too early.
Apple A Day hotel is quite affordable. We booked a suite, which is actually a combination of two rooms, with a small living room in between. Cost around RM 360+ a night. Very spacious, very comfortable. There are Wi-Fi routers in every room, therefore internet is fast and stable. There are 3 TVs for mine, but we hardly watch anything, only Thai channels. @BabyAsherMak likes it though, Thai language fascinates him.
@BabyZacToys was craving for spaghetti and pizza, so we went to a nearby Italian Restaurant called Umberto. Best decision ever! Food was delicious and price was reasonable. Their Google rating is quite high too. We ordered a mushroom pizza, a parma ham pizza with mozzarella cheese, a seafood fettuccini, a Singha beer, a macchiato and jug of water. All in all, around 1500 baht. Having chilled beer after long walks in Krabi is divine.
Then we rest a bit at hotel before we went out to Aonang's Landmark Night Market via Tuk Tuk. Tuk Tuk was 100 baht, worth it. Bought a new pair of slippers for Abby as hers is painful to walk on. Had coconut ice cream and blueberry juice. Juices are very cheap in Krabi. Made with generous amounts of real fruits too. Then we watched a Thai boxing match at the market. Finally we walked home. Hotel provides 2 x 500 ml bottles of mineral water per room. So we had 4, never enough especially with two milk drinking kids. So we brought water from 7-Eleven. There are so many 7-Elevens around and they are all packed with people. Really good business!!!
PS : If you're visiting Thailand, please remember to bring more cash. They charge an extra unnecessary 3% for credit or debit card transactions if they see you're a foreigner. We can't use their e-wallets either unless you have one activated way earlier before your travels.
