A woman who caused a crash in 2019 that killed a pedestrian and injured five others in East Dumbartonshire has been ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and is banned from driving for 12 months.

Janette Henry drove her Range Rover into a family walking to restaurant in Bearsden, killing 60-year-old Eleanor Ballantyne.

Next up, the Caledonian Sleeper service which connects Glasgow to London is to be nationalised later in 2023, the Scottish Government has announced.

Last year, ministers decided to terminate Serco’s contract to run the service seven years early.

And in other news, a Glasgow takeaway was named the Best Kebab House in Scotland at the recent British Kebab Awards.

This is the second year Shawarma King has taken home the prize, with the team - who are first generation immigrants - saying they feel strongly about the welcoming attitude that Glasgow has to them, not just as a business, but as people too.
