Meghalaya Assembly Polls: NPP leaders’ views on chances of win

The counting of votes of the Meghalaya Assembly elections has begun across 13 counting centres across the state on March 02. National People’s Party leader including Meghalaya’s Transport Minister Dasakhiat Lamare, party leader Ampareen Lyngdoh and Ransom Sutnga expressed their views on party’s prospects and their chances of winning the elections from respective assemblies. The ruling NPP in Meghalaya was leading in 4 out of the 59 Assembly constituencies while the United Democratic Party is leading in two seats, according to the latest trend shared by the Election Commission on March 02. According to the Meghalaya Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) FR Kharkongor, three-tier security arrangements have been made with Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) guarding the innermost layer and State Armed Police will keep a vigil over the second and third layers.
